Extra Turkeys Find A New Home

Craig Young, Executive Director of the West Alabama Food Bank loads boxes of frozen turkeys to be given to needy families in the West Alabama area for Christmas.

Over 1,400 turkeys were ordered for the employees of JWR for Thanksgiving and not every employee picked up their frozen bird.  After giving the Hannah Home the turkeys they needed, the remaining 54 turkeys were donated to the West Alabama Food Bank.  Craig Young, Executive Director of the Food Bank said the USDA delivered far fewer turkeys than had been expected this year.  "We appreciate JWR for this great donation," he said. "The turkeys will be distributed to families in the West Alabama area for Christmas."

The Food Bank distributed over 1.25 million pounds of food last year to 65 agencies in nine West Alabama counties.  They are always looking for donations year-round.  If you would like to help, send your check to: West Alabama Food Bank, P.O.
