Jim Walter Resources is sponsoring a scholarship program for incoming freshmen and students currently enrolled at The University of Alabama. First priority of consideration will be given to children of Jim Walter Resources employees. Six scholarships will be awarded. Three of these scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in engineering, and three to any other major. If your daughter or son qualifies for this scholarship, please complete the preliminary form below. Jim Walter Resources will verify your employment and pass your name on to the Office of Scholarships at The University of Alabama. They will contact you directly to explain how to apply for the scholarship. Jim Walter Resources only funds the scholarships and is not involved in any way with the selection of scholarship recipients.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
1.
Six scholarships of $2,500 shall be awarded
to incoming freshmen and students enrolled at The University of Alabama.
Of the six awards, three shall be given to
students majoring in engineering and three to
students with other majors.
2.
In selecting recipients, first priority of
consideration shall be given to the children of
current Jim Walter Resources employees.
Second priority shall be given to students
who exhibit leadership, heavy involvement in
extracurricular activities, and/or a history of
employment.
3.
Recipients shall be determined by the
standing scholarship committees of The University of
Alabama and the College of Engineering.
The committees may include the Dean of the
College of Engineering or his/her designee.
Decisions of the committees shall be made in
accordance with University policies and procedures
adopted from time to time, subject to the approval
of the President of the University, and coordinated
with the Office of
Admissions or such University office
designated by the President for coordination of such
awards.
4. Deadline to submit applications is April 9, 2010.
