JWR Makes Donation to Troop 3

Troop 3 Committee Chairman Tim Hagood and his 10 year-old son, Kyle, accepted a $1,500 donation from Jim Walter Resources this week.  Boy Scout Troop 3 and Cub Scout Pack 37 are sponsored by JWR and are based in the Brookwood community.  Hagood said the money is earmarked for an enclosed trailer to transport and to store their camping gear and supplies.

"We are fortunate to have Jim Walter Resources provide us a place to meet each week," said Hagood. "But for them to make such a generous donation is really unexpected and greatly appreciated."  Troop 3 and Pack 37 meet weekly in the cafeteria at the Central Mining Office.

Troop 3 will be visiting DCH Regional Medical Center later this week to distribute toys to hospitalized children.  This is Troop 3's second year to distribute gifts for Christmas at the hospital.  Another community service provided by Troop 3 is the proper disposal of American flags.  JWR has collected all of the torn and soiled flags from its locations for the Troop to dispose of properly.

The Troop is growing and is in need of additional camping gear such as tents, stoves and pots and pans.  If you would like to help, send your camping items to Dennis Hall at the Training Center.  You can also send checks made payable to: Brookwood Boy Scout Troop 3.
