JWR SPONSORS TRIP TO SHARK TOOTH CREEK
On Saturday, April 28th the Cub Scouts traveled to Shark Tooth Creek near Aliceville. Seventy million years ago a great deal of the state of Alabama was part of the Gulf of Mexico. It is believed that the area around Aliceville was once a barrier island, much like present day Dauphin Island, and that the shark teeth washed ashore, eventually to be buried by geological processes. Today teeth from 16 different species of sharks can be found in Shark Tooth Creek. Each person that participated in the hunt was allowed to keep 15 of their favorite shark teeth.
The Cub Scouts also worked on earning their Geology and Geography Belt Loops. Everyone who participated had a great time and a we would like to give a special thanks to JWR for sponsoring this enjoyable and educational trip.
