"The Working Men & Women of the Mines" is a 25 track CD produced as a tribute to all coal miners.  It contains legendary coal mining songs such as "Dark as a Dungeon" and "Nine Pound Hammer" sung by Johnny Cash* and who could forget the 1961 #1 hit "Big Bad John" by Jimmy Dean*.  This CD also contains original songs and spoken words by Mel Shaw and coal miners from Jim Walter Resources, Inc.'s No. 4 Mine in Brookwood, Alabama.  These coal miners sing back-up to The Jordanaires in "Amazing Grace" and tell their own stories about their careers in some of the deepest coal mines in North America.  JWR's own Jimmie Hyche performs a song he wrote, "Brookwood to Birmingham" about his grandfather's life as a coal miner and farmer.  And what would a tribute CD be without "Coal Miner's Daughter" written by Loretta Lynn.  Kim Byram, a true coal miner's daughter (her father is Dale Byram - JWR Training Center) performs this historic coal mining song.  The song was recorded at Loretta Lynn's studio in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee with Britt Payne on drums (Britt's father is Paul Payne - JWR No. 5 Mine).  Order your copies today!
