LIKE FATHER LIKE SON?
No. 7 Mine's Johnny Aldrich has one less thing to worry about these days.  It's a sure bet he won't be confused with his 24 year old son, John Casey.

John Caseywas chosen to grace the cover of the 2005 Alabama Firefighters Handsome Heroes Calendar.  All proceeds from the sale of the calendar benefit Kid One, the only nonprofit transit system in Alabama for children and expectant mothers in need of medical care without means of transportation.

"I'm tickled to death he's a fireman," says father Johnny, 53.  "John helped the JWR Mine Rescue Team during the 1998 Oak Grove tornado," recalls Johnny "and that's when he decided to become a fireman.  I fully support him."  Johnny has been employed at JWR since 1976.
Johnny's wife, Shea, also supports her son's chosen career.  When asked about her son's calendar exploits she replied, "I have mixed feelings.  I was attending a calendar signing event at the Galleria in Hoover and was nearly run over by all of the women trying to get to my son.  The bad part about it was they were close to my age!"

John Aldrich has been a fireman with the Graysville Fire Department for the past two years.  He and his sister, Joey, 27, submitted some photos to the Alabama Firefighters calendar for consideration.  John was one of 24 finalists chosen from the entire state of Alabama.  On National Secretary Day, the 24 finalists were put on display in Birmingham before a crowd of admiring women.  The women chose by applause the top 12 to make it to the pages of the calendar.  The fireman with the most applause was chosen to be on the cover.  Johnny says his son's new nickname at the firehouse is "Cover Boy" but it doesn't bother him at all.
